A yeast infection is also referred to as Candida which is caused by a group of microscopic fungi or yeast known as Candida albicans. Usually, it affects the vaginal area however, it can also build up under the breasts, around dentures, nail beds, lower abdomen, and beneath skin folds. Some of the factors that increase the risk of yeast infection are stress, pregnancy, diabetes, chronic illness, antibiotics, steroids, and oral contraception. Women are vulnerable to yeast infection after menopause due to the reducing estrogen level around the vaginal walls. There are simple home remedies to get rid of vaginal yeast infection

  • Coconut:

Coconut is enriched in antifungal properties that can fight the bacteria resulting in vaginal yeast infection.

Simply apply coconut oil externally to the affected area thrice a day until it is cured. The mixture of coconut oil and cinnamon oil also works well.

  • Yogurt:

Yogurt contains Lactobacillus acidophilus which is a friendly strain of bacteria. This is very effective in controlling the growth of infections. Make sure you use plain and unsweetened yogurt when treating a yeast infection.

Externally apply the plain yogurt on the affected area and let it rest for at least 20 minutes (preferably overnight).it will relieve the itching and irritation.

  • Garlic:

Garlic is a famous herb known to cure many ailments. It is boosted with antibacterial, antifungal, and antibiotic components that are highly effective in treating yeast infections.

Make a paste out of crushed garlic cloves. Apply the paste on the affected area.  you can also mix garlic oil with vitamin E oil, and coconut oil instead; it works just fine.

  • Apple Cider Vinegar:

The apple cider vinegar and white vinegar contain distinctive components that can be very effective in treating yeast infection and combating with the fungi behind it.

Mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup of warm water and apply it on the affected area twice a day.

  • Boric Acid:

Boric acid basically is a chemical composition containing mild antiseptic and antifungal properties. However, it is not recommended for pregnant women.

Mix some boric acid with water, apply it on the affected area and let it rest for a few minutes. wash it off thoroughly and repeat this process daily.

  • Cranberries:

Cranberries are rich in both antibacterial and antifungal components. These components are highly effective when it comes to fighting off fungi responsible for yeast infection. It was effective in treating urinary tract or other bladder infections as well.

Drink unsweetened cranberries juice daily. This will speed up the recovery process. if you cannot find unsweetened cranberry juice, you can take cranberry tablets two times a day.

  • Oregano oil:

Oregano oil is enriched with antifungal properties  and it is also helpful in increasing the immunity.

Oregano oil can be a bit irritating t the skin so it is better to dilute it with olive oil before applying it directly.

You can also take capsules of oregano oil twice a day.

  • Tea Tree Oil:

Tea Tree oil are highly enriched with antifungal properties that make us affecting home remedy for yeast infection  However, pregnant women are advised not to use the oil as it can be harmful to the child.

Mix tea tree oil with water or olive oil or sweet almond oil. Apply it on the affected skin.

  • Olive Oil:

Olive Oil is highly effective in treating the yeast infection as it is boosted with antifungal, antioxidant, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also known to restore the good bacteria in the body.

You can make olive oil extract at home by chopping olive leaves and putting in a glass jar with a lid. Pour vodka on the glass jar until it is completely covered. Close the jar tightly and put it in a dark place for at least four weeks. Then strain the liquid and apply it to the affected area.

  • Calendula:

Calendula is a herb that consists of potent antifungal and anti-inflammatory components that can help in curing yeast infection.

Crush the calendula leaves and apply it on the affected area daily. However, pregnant women are advised not to use the leaves.
